Symbol blockchain news update – 24/04/22

Just got back from a very rainy weekend in Seville. Shame about the weather but it was really nice to have a break and eat some delicious food! It was, the first time that we have been away in more than two years and the first time ever leaving our little one with the grandparents. They did a fantastic job (thank you if you are reading this!). I feel like I have slacked off these last few days so I am back in front of the computer and writing again. I have probably missed lots but I’ll promise to do better next week 😁 From what I have picked up on Discord it looks like there will be at least two official announcements coming – I am not going to spill the beans but you can find out for yourselves if you look hard enough. I’ll obviously be reporting on them once the announcements are made but until then mum’s the word! 🤐

Valkyrie update

Valkyrie posted their weekly update on Friday and I noticed one particularly interesting announcement below:

So it looks like the Swiss foundation entity is moving forward and Ernst & Young are involved in making this happen. Hopefully everything will go smoothly and we will hear more in the near future once contracts are signed and we are ready to go! 👏

Join the XYM City Discord channel!

Just a reminder from mikun (and from me!) if you are even vaguely interested in Symbol and NEM then you should join the official Discord channel! This is by far the most useful place to find out exactly what the team are up to and track the latest developments in the Symbol and NEM world. Obviously Symbol Blog is a close second though 😂

Cluster developments

It looks like the wizards in the Japanese community are really exploring what is possible with Cluster and now screen sharing is live within the XYM City metaverse. Here you can see some familiar faces watching somebody playing The Tower! This is really cool but I think that there are plans to use this as an educational tool as well so that virtual classes can be held so that the community can come together and learn about Symbol and what it can do.

The return of NEM Japan

It looks like NEM Japan is back! I think that this is being run by the Japanese community and hopefully will be a great source of information (and stories for me to write about!) 😁

Symbol school

Wow! This is super cool! It looks like a school in Yokohama will be introducing Symbol into their teaching. Training up the next generation of blockchain developers in high school – impressive! Hopefully, we will pick up some new community talent and whatever happens, the students will gain some really valuable skills. Great initiative!

Pay with Symbol 🍻

Yet another establishment has decided to introduce Symbol payments thanks to the amazing nembear! The bar is located in Osaka so if you live nearby then make sure you get down there for a drink or two and support them! 😊

Bye-bye moonies

Great to see that the moonies are slowly selling up and moving on and I’m really glad to see that the community are coming together and taking responsibility for policing themselves and promoting all of the positive things that are happening in the Symbol and NEM world. I really think that this last year or so has seen a complete transformation in how things are done and a shift in the community’s attitude. Of course, it didn’t go down well with some but I definitely feel that we are on the right track now and I am very excited to see how we will grow over the next couple of years.

Thanks

OK, that’s it for today’s post – it was a little rushed but I’m sure you will cut me a bit of slack as I have been travelling and adjusting back to having responsibilities. It was nice to have two days of freedom but just as nice to come back and see our little man 😁
