10 Dec Symbol blockchain news update – 10/12/21
It’s Friday again! One week left before I take some holiday and my to-do list is starting to shrink. Happy days! Just a short update today, hope you all have a good weekend and if I don’t post before then I will be back on Monday with another update 😊
Hoodie thief
I received my “all roads lead to muscles” Symbol hoodie yesterday after a long journey from Japan! I hung it up and 20 minutes later my wife was wearing it. Weirdly this is my most popular tweet ever and my wife is a celebrity with nearly 12,000 impressions and 120 likes at the time of writing! Maybe I should feature her more in my posts! 😆
Showing Symbol to the masses
I was amazed when I saw this. It seems like there is a Symbol advert running outside of Shinjuku Station in Tokyo! If you haven’t been there then take it from me, it is insanely busy, in fact, it holds the Guinness World Record for being the busiest train station in the world with an average of 3.59 million(!) travellers each day(!) as of 2018. That is potentially a lot of eyes on the advert and hopefully it will lead to some new users. I am not sure how this happened or who paid for it but apparently it will run for the next week until December 17th.
Essential reading
Just a reminder that Jaguar posted a new article on Symbol Blog yesterday. I will warn you it is very technical (but what else did you expect! 😁). It is nicely written though and after a few read-throughs at least I picked up the basics. If you are more of a programmer than I am then this will be right up your street so go check it out!
Good things come to those that wait
I think we are all excited to hear what is coming next for Symbol but patience is a virtue. Hold tight, we will find out soon and I for one am very excited to see what it in store for 2022!
Limit reached!
Is this a first? It looks like @tsubasa_yozawa‘s quest has reached the maximum 50,000 XYM boost limit! I have reported on this before but the idea is to distribute these funds to new accounts for people that are interested in taking their first steps with Symbol and increase the number of users and community members. I think that the plan was to give away 10 XYM per account and Gimre has said that he would double the amount raised in the quest. That’s 100,000 XYM which would potentially fund 10,000 new Symbol accounts! Can’t wait to welcome some new residents to XYMCity!
Russian translations
A big shout out to Klim for his work translating all things Symbol into the Russian language! I picked up yesterday that he was translating the QUEST website but he has also been working on the Symbol Explorer which now has Russian language support:
