Symbol blockchain news update โ€“ 07/03/22

Hi everyone, hope that you all had a good weekend! I’m back with a short update today, needed a break from writing so decided I would er.. write something ๐Ÿคจ

Valkyrie update

I just missed this in Friday’s post so most of you will have seen it already! For those that haven’t Leah has given us an update on what they have been up to over the previous week. Lots going on there, it will be interesting to follow the progress with the setup of the new entities – I am not sure how long these things take but at least the right conversations are being had with the right people.

There are a lot of acronyms in the post below, I think I get most of them but for those of us that don’t wear a suit and carry a briefcase it might be useful to have a glossary of terms somewhere as a reference ๐Ÿ˜ It looks like over-the-counter trading partners are being recruited (hopefully will avoid the team having to dump huge quantities of XEM and XYM on exchanges to raise cash). A market maker partnership is underway and it looks like it could be announced very soon since a contract has already been written. Looks like there are a few other partnerships either on the cards or in the early stages of development and a discussion scheduled with OKX presumably regarding a XYM listing – good luck! Hope it goes well ๐Ÿ˜Š

Really great to see that accounting is transparent and will be scrutinised by Valkyrie and that there will be a multi-article feature about NEM and Symbol published in the near future, presumably somewhere with some reach that will bring some more visibility to the projects. We can also look forward to a Medium post from Leah about the Symbol community! Looking forward to reading this and if you ever want to post anything on Symbol Blog Leah then I can set you up with an account ๐Ÿ˜Š

NFT-Drive mainnet

It looks like NFT-Drive is now live on the Symbol mainnet! They recommend trying the testnet version first and as the website is entirely in Japanese I think that this is probably a good idea ๐Ÿ˜‚ Google Translate is a good starting point for learning more and hopefully there will be an English version coming soon ๐Ÿ˜Š

The recipe for success

It’s has been a while since I saw an epic Hatchet thread! You’ll all be happy to know that she’s back and tweeting like crazy ๐Ÿ˜ This latest thread covers her recipe for success and it is an interesting read. We can relax a little as the core devs have made a pact to stay as long as needed to build the protocol into something successful whilst educating and empowering the community to allow us to continue building after their departure.

It is a bittersweet tale that ends with the core devs moving on to pastures new. However, in return we end up with greater decentralisation and the project is put into the ownership of us, the community.

Don’t panic – we are not ready yet and I should imagine that we still have a few years left until this happens – let’s fulfil the subChain vision and grow our community first please! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Another point made (that I have shouted about several times already) is that this isn’t a place for passive participants. If you are not willing to give anything then why do you hold XYM/XEM? You don’t have to be a developer to help, just do something however small. If we all showed some passion then we would be attracting a lot more users, developers, exchanges than we currently are.

Narrow escape?

Hahaha ๐Ÿ˜‚ I found this hilarious! Although the eventual winner Symbol was not universally loved I think maybe we got off lightly. Some of these names are terrible. Many of them are just plain silly or even more generic than “Symbol”. Propolys sounds like a nasty medical condition, mycor definitely sounds fungal (maybe this is where the inspiration came from though?) and Blockworth reminds me of the “Ask Jeeves” guy – instantly conjures up the image of a butler in my mind, not sure why – does anyone else get this?

Print at home

Very cool! I like the concept of print at home Symbol apparel! Hopefully we will see more of this in the future, perhaps a talented artist in the community can make some designs and people that use them can donate some XYM? Printing my own stuff means that I don’t have to pay crazy shipping prices from Japan so I am all for this method of distribution.

Secret room in XYM City

If you are on Cluster in XYM City then you might have spent hours trying to do this already. It looks really hard and I know if I got near the top that nerves would get the better of me and I would screw it up as I do in all video games ๐Ÿ˜‚ I still haven’t joined this digital world but hopefully I will get some time to do it soon. Free time is such a luxury at the moment ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Anyway, if you are feeling skilled and adventurous then go give it a try!

New game, new car

Ooh, GT7 was released last week and it looks like @umesetu2011 is already up and running with a new car design! I am kind of tempted to buy it for PS5 but I know that I would never get time to play and that driving is probably the only thing I do better in real life than in video games (maybe excluding parallel parking anyway) ๐Ÿ˜‚

Thanks!

OK guys, thanks again for reading. I better get back to writing something that I get paid to do – my god it’s dull ๐Ÿ˜ฉ If you are a regular reader and would like to help out then please consider harvesting on my node http://xymharvesting.net:3000
