28 Mar Symbol blockchain news update – 28/03/22
Hope you enjoyed your weekend and your Monday hasn’t been too painful! I’m in a surprisingly good mood, maybe it is because the sun is shining or maybe it’s that all things Symbol and NEM seem rosy at the moment 😁
New Twitter accounts!
Symbol is breaking away and now has its own official Twitter account rather than sharing with @nemofficial which will now focus on NEM related announcements. Please make sure that you follow @thesymbolchain ASAP as apparently we need at least 10,000 followers before it can attempt to get verified account status – we still need just over 8,000 to make that happen so go do it now!
It’s nice to see that the two accounts will focus on their respective projects as I think it is probably quite confusing to new people coming in at present. Let’s hope we see the Symbol Twitter account becoming more and more active as we start building some momentum! I have an even more acute sense of optimism about Symbol at the moment and I am not entirely sure why – hopefully it is a good omen 😊
Whilst we are on the subject of Twitter, I should also point out that there are another three accounts that you should be following. These represent the different Symbol and NEM entities:
- The Symbol Syndicate (@SymbolSyndicate): a non-profit set up for protocol R&D
- Lingua Franca (@aBermudaCompany): I think this will deal with quadratic funding, amongst other things once set up
- The Fushichou Foundation (@TheFushichou): a non-profit that will promote development and growth of NEM and Symbol
MEXC partnership
So I reported on this last week as it was announced by MEXC Japan. There still isn’t a lot of news but apparently they will be “helping the Symbol and NEM ecosystem with project incubation and listings”. Hopefully there will be more information and specific details of the partnership in due course. When I hear more I will let you know! I am very intrigued by this.
Valkyrie update
Leah from Valkyrie has posted a recent status update on Discord and it looks like progress is being made with the setup of the various entities, banks and lawyers are sloooow so great that you guys are on the case! Also just want to say congrats in advance(?) on your new arrival – you’ll have some magical times and a lot sleep deprivation to look forward to! 😁
Winner winner, (fried) chicken dinner
I love this – @jpzart01 you are amazingly talented! Looking good Tresto, hanging out in the gym with a bucket of fried chicken 😎 I have a craving for KFC now, shame it is a 20 mile drive to the nearest branch 😭 Keep your eyes peeled people as I think you will be seeing more familiar faces getting a makeover from @jpzart01 soon! 😯
EXYM wallet – coming soon
This is exciting! The new EXYM wallet is on its way. You can check out their blog post (in English!) here and follow progress in the EXYM channel on the XYM City Discord server.
Apparently the beta version will be released imminently and will have some features that you wouldn’t find in a traditional crypto wallet. For instance, you will be able to create your own wallet design and and sell it as an NFT to other users! I will be interested to see what the community will come up with. I like that it is “full of little things that make you happy” – this is exactly what I need in my life! 😁
Symbol Node List joins the metaverse
Haha! There is now gallery of Symbol nodes on cluster! @ahikicoin has exported node descriptions and details of their owners to cluster and you (or your avatar) can wander around and check them out! I maybe it is only the promoted nodes that are displayed as I didn’t find mine – I was going to post a screenshot of me standing next to it 😭
Official XYM City currency!
Wow! @sakamotometal has created moulds for 10 XYM and 10 XEM coins – these look fantastic! I think I will have to order a 10 XYM coin when they are ready! 😁
Hatchet the muse
I am not sure how many Hatchet artworks have been produced over the last year but there are a lot and they are all great! Really like this work in progress from @haze_kusakabe – looks like it will be listed on COMSA in the near future, I’ll post the link when it does.
