09 Mar Symbol blockchain news update – 09/03/22
Things have been a bit quiet lately, probably because you are all playing the Tower or hanging out in XYM City and having fun! I have picked up a few stories though so rather than wait I thought I would post a quick midweek update 😊
The Tower
@toshiya_ma really is doing an amazing job! The Tower is continuing to evolve and more features are being added all the time. I really liked the game when it was released but haven’t found time to go back and replay now that the improvements have been implemented. It looks like many of you have though and there are some pretty big scores on the leaderboard! I think that I got to level 41(?) but it was a lot easier then, I need to go back and see if I can give gimre and CryptoBeliever a run for their money! 😁
Whales join the the harvest
I didn’t notice this but @kotopapa8 pointed out that there has been a significant increase in the amount of XYM participating in harvesting. It’s sad news for us as it looks like the total pool of importance harvesting has gone up by 10% in the last few weeks meaning that your probability of getting a block would have decreased by the same proportion 😭
If like me you can’t read Japanese, here is the English version (I screenshotted this today so numbers are slightly different):
That’s an increase of over 233 million XYM joining the harvesters pool and @ahikicoin noticed that a large chunk of this was due to four new accounts each holding 45 million each! 😮 Somebody really likes Symbol! 😁 I wonder who? If you are reading this then I will be your best friend if you delegate to my node ❤️ 😂
Don’t lose your right to vote!
OK people, this is important! If you run a voting node (you will know if you do) then you need to keep an eye on when your voting keys expire, this is in addition to your node certificates (also keep an eye on these). Apparently there are 27 Allnodes nodes that have not updated their voting keys yet and (I think) that we are now at epoch 716 which I think gives us roughly 48 hours until these nodes will no longer be able to vote – make sure that you update them!
Patience
I guess most people get into crypto thinking they can make a quick few bucks, then get upset and angry when the value of their holdings goes down. Rome was not built in a day, have some patience and whilst you are waiting for the developers to create the latest, greatest technologies you can do your bit and contribute to the community. If every XYM and XEM holder put in a bit of their own time to do something constructive or creative then we probably would be able to accelerate our journey on the path to greatness 😁
Top tip from me. Just don’t religiously check the fiat value of your crypto. If you think over months and years rather than days and weeks you will probably be a lot happier 😊

Should we have a market cap of $770M+ already? 🤔
Obviously I’d love to see $5 XYM (woohoo – I can quit my job then!). We may never get there but I have a feeling that we are at the very beginning of something that could be very big. If you like the amazing community we have and you believe in the pirates’ vision then hang around for a couple of years and help us grow into one of the big boys. This is what excites me, if you get in early you can help grow something. Then in 2025 you’ll have bragging rights with your friends to say that you were there before Symbol got big 😁
