02 Mar Symbol blockchain news update – 02/03/23
Hi guys, hope that you are all well! It’s been an eventful week so I thought I would take a break from writing other things to come and write a short blog post to bring you back up to date.
NEM chain slowdown
Well we had a little drama at the beginning of the week when NEM temporarily stopped producing new blocks. The pirates quickly diagnosed the problem, which as you can probably guess was incredibly obscure having never happened before in NEM’s 8 year history. The problem actually fixed itself when the offending transaction expired but the bug has been fixed in the new release so that it can’t happen again.
I was waiting until the postmortem was published before I wrote the blog post this week but never fear it will be coming soon and I will add the link and some more information to the next post. For any NEM node owners – please update now. There is a link below:

Twitter account consolidation
The Symbol & NEM Community Info Twitter account is now taking over the @NewsSymbol and @symboljp_forum accounts which will be shutting down. This brings all news and information into a single place so should make it easier to keep up with what’s going on. If you don’t follow them already then you really should be 😊
XymSendButton
kurikou_XymCity has released an update to the XymSendButton tool which I think allows users to send XYM at the touch of a button via bluetooth(!). The update enables the function to send XYM to multiple addresses specified in a csv file as an aggregate transaction.
NFT Series
Oh shoot, I really love this but it looks like I missed the sale, otherwise I would have bought one. Oh well, need to be quicker next time I guess 😭
Cool Japan
Well we all knew that Japan was pretty cool already, right? I wondered why XEMbook retweeted this but I see a mention of NEM & Symbol and a quote from a certain familiar face in there 😁
