28 Aug Symbol blockchain news update โ 28/08/23
Hello ๐ It’s been a while (again) but I am back with another update after a particularly difficult month ๐ฌ Anyway, onwards and upwards, the show must go on and all that ๐ As you probably know the annual NEM & Symbol Tomatina event is drawing closer so it dominates today’s news.
Tomatina 2023
It’s that time of year again! Get ready to create and “throw” your tomatoes and generate those transactions ๐ The event will be held on the 30th of August (Wednesday) and I guess for many of us in the west this will actually be tomorrow night. Make sure that you keep an eye on Twitter (or whatver it is called now) as I am sure that there will be many other apps and events that I have unintentionally missed out here.
This looks intriguing. I don’t really know what the game is but apparently to beat the boss you need to team up by creating a multisig account and hitting it with a cooperative attack ๐ Very much looking forward to seeing this in action ๐
The pirate crew are also preparing for Tomatina and are working on a site where you can customise a tomato and then mint it as an on chain NFT. I have wanted to see something like this for a while. The base tomato is identical but you can customise how it looks, I created one on testnet the other day and it is super cool. Make sure that you use this opportunity to create a tomato either for yourself or to “throw” at a friend.
OK, again I am struggling with the translation but it looks like Mameshiba has created a tomato faucet so if you are short on tomatoes you can stock up there. I can’t see a link but I am sure this will be published at some point soon ๐ช
More members of the Solanaceae are joining the battle. I think getting hit by a flying potato might cause some damage, maybe it’s mashed potato though. There is a QUEST published if you want to support the potatina event. Also you can find more information here – ah, looking at the page I think it is fries that will will be thrown ๐
Tomatina Square will be back! Throw your tomato mosaics at each other in this shooting (or throwing) game from Feiton. Judging by the emojis in the post I think(?) that you will be able to throw your chips (sorry fries) during the potatina event too.
NEM Supernode enrollment
Running a NEM Supernode? If so then here’s the enrollment address for September. Remember you need to send this transaction in order to be eligible to receive rewards next month so don’t forget (you can do it now and don’t have to wait until September 1st).
Start learning
Nembear has created a new learning resource for beginners that want to learn how to interact with Symbol. I haven’t read it yet but I think it is aimed at people that are complete beginners and explains each block of code in detail to explain what is going on. You can give it a read here and just hit the translate button in Chrome.
More visualisations
So I was busy working on a visualisation tool for Symbol harvesting income recently.
The demo video is here:
It will show you a calendar view listing the amount harvested per day since the network was launched and a cumulative plot of income by type (harvester, node beneficiary and fees).
Again, it is just a prototype but at some point I would like to put these and the other tools together for public use. I would like to do something with node stats as the next side project so keep an eye out in the coming weeks.
