26 Oct Symbol blockchain news update – 26/10/21
I am sitting here writing the first few stories on Monday evening at 7:30 UK time and there is a strange calm on Twitter (apart from a few rocket ship posts about the current XYM price). I am sure that this is because Hatchet is sleeping right now and this is the calm before the impending news storm that I will wake up to tomorrow 😁 Anyway, for now I am left with a nervous sense of excitement and anticipation, eager to learn about what is coming next in this defining week for Symbol. It kind of reminds me of being a kid and waking up at 4:00am on Christmas Day to check if Santa had been 😆 With my insomnia I will probably be waking up at 4:00am and checking my phone anyway, I wonder whether there will be any juicy news when I resume the post tomorrow..
EDIT (7:30AM) – as expected more to write about, as expected not much sleep. Also @Jaguar0625 confirms my suspicions that there is more news on the way..
Release the Kraken?
First of all there was a teaser. Does this mean that a Kraken listing is coming? Maybe.
At least there is a page indexed in Google although it seems to redirect to the default trading page at present so not sure that this means anything at this point in time but it is promising.
This will be exciting news if it turns out to be a thing, I haven’t used Kraken for a while but I was always fond of it. It has been around forever in crypto years and is well respected. Also a great place to cash out into fiat if I should ever want some GBP. Always struck me as being the Wall Street of exchanges versus the Las Vegas style win on the throw of a dice, glitzy trading palace that lures you in with with special offers and high roller benefits.

I am also excited! 🤩 I’m also very intrigued about what is happening behind the scenes here as I noticed that @LeahWald is CEO of @valkyriefunds who according to their Twitter account are an “alternative asset management firm at the intersection of traditional finance and the emerging digital asset sector”. I wonder if there will be some announcement on this in the future. We will need some expert help to build our new economy!
Kairos – the project that never was
This thread is still live as I write, and it’s looooong so for these reasons I am not going to try to summarise for you. What I will say is, that from the first 36(!) tweets that I have seen, the project looked phenomenal. Unfortunately NGL put pay to this and there is some scandal and intrigue in the thread – please read in full!

NFT-Drive is one project that I am already really excited about. It has the potential to be huge and I really hope that it gets the recognition that it deserves. This video looks like another @HANABATA_KE / @RadioRa26841511 collaboration and is a nice summary of the technology, benefits and applications of NFT-Drive.

Going for gold!
As I have posted before (many times!), I have the silver Sakamoto coin, which I love. This one is solid gold though 😮, I want it but I have a feeling I can’t afford it! 😆 Not sure it would be wise to blow the family budget on a gold XYM coin. Mind you if I remember correctly I received an annoyed sigh and an eye roll from my wife when I bought some XEM for ~$0.008 back in early 2017. I like it when I am right about something, it doesn’t happen that often 😁
For those of you with deeper pockets than me I suggest checking out the store although I am not sure if these are on general sale or if you need to contact Mr Sakamoto directly. I am sure that he would be happy to help anyway!
How to move your node to a different host
So I had to do this earlier in the year as I got annoyed with the host I was with and I found out I was paying WAY over the odds each month. If you are thinking of moving to a different server then @Hexagon_tr can put your mind at rest, make sure that you keep your delegates and make the process simple (well it is pretty simple anyway but now you have a step by step guide to work from too!). As a side note – if anyone else is interested in writing a guest post then let me know. Would be great to see some more diversity on the blog and I know that you guys will get sick of my writing soon. I lost five delegates in the last month according to Symbol Node List so I think that I need to improve writing and/or stop saying controversial things! 😬
Symbol Blog video edition!
As I mentioned previously there was some chatter on Discord about making a video version of the Symbol Blog updates. I wasn’t so keen on doing it myself but it seems that @OliverMuldoon may be taking on this challenge! I think it is a great idea and hopefully we will reach new audiences this way.
