Symbol blockchain news update – 23/06/23

I am a little behind this week so apologies for any/all the stories I missed. I didn’t even notice that Symbol Blog had its second-anniversary last weekend! I’ve put a reminder in my calendar so I don’t miss the event next year 😂

This post should also take me over the 275,000-word threshold too – milestones galore! 😁

Have fun guys! 😁

Discount conference tickets

NEMTUS has partnered with the IVS Crypto 2023 conference in Kyoto next week. IVS Crypto 2023 is billed as Japan’s largest crypto conference and is targeted at Web3 entrepreneurs, investors and developers. The event will comprise interactive sessions and networking opportunities and NEMTUS is offering discounted tickets to those Symbol community members interested in attending. I assume that they will also be at the event too.

Hatchet hits Japan

Hatchet will be visiting Japan next month and spending some time in Tokyo where she will be meeting with community members.

If you would like to attend the meetup held at Sandwich Factory on July 8th (edited with the correct date – thanks for spotting my mistake tx0x5! 😊), then let Radio know by the 5th of July. According to the tweet there will be a ¥4,500 fee for unlimited food and drink for two hours and Symbol payment is accepted at the venue.

Hopefully, there will be another meetup later in the year at the Symbol Conference and I will get to meet up with some of you guys too!

Decentralised blockchain?

I missed this tweet from Jag until I did my weekly trawl of Twitter this morning. I am sure that he would like to hear your thoughts on Symbol centralisation issues. Are we really as decentralised as people would like to think? We have more than 900 active nodes on the network which at first sight looks great. However, digging deeper we see that there are too few voting nodes, the distribution of stake between nodes is uneven and importantly the geographic and provider diversity is low. Allnodes have something of a monopoly here so please think about spinning up your own node independently, let’s get to a state of true decentralisation. I set up a node on a 4GB Raspberry Pi running from an SD card recently, it sits next to my TV 😁

EXYM updates

Another EXYM update has been released, you can check out the changes and follow the development of the wallet in the run-up to the official release on their Discord server!

Ventus update

It seems that Mikun is releasing updates and new wallet features every week at the moment! In the latest update, he has added the ability to activate “one-click” harvesting – check it out in the video below 😊

You can also check the harvesting status of your account with this handy tool!

Old school

I love this! A person after my own heart that has a scrappy notebook of ideas and crazy diagrams – it really is the best way to work 😁 I am not sure what “HyperXYM” will be but I am very much looking forward to finding out – great work! 💪

Hitting the books

It looks like HANABATA_KE was lucky enough to get hold of a physical copy of both of the Symbol reference books created by NEMTUS. Have fun learning! I would like these, even though I wouldn’t be able to read them they would look great on my bookshelf! 😎

Thanks!

Thanks, as always, for reading. I will be back again next week with another news round-up!
