Symbol blockchain news update – 20/11/21

It’s the weekend! What a crazy week it has been, I got a taster of what it must be like to be a single dad to an 18 month old – fun but man is it exhausting! My wife is now back from her business trip so we are back to sharing the load. There was the Harlock saga which we reported on yesterday, glad that there was no real harm done and once again (even as a non-NEM holder) thank you to everyone that mobilised at short notice and solved the problems.

I always tell you to get yourselves onto Discord and poke around so today I am going to cover some of the cool stuff that you may have missed if you are not on Discord..

New documentation website

So I assume that I am allowed to post this since the link is open to everyone (maybe it won’t be after I post this) but go check out the new design of the Symbol documentation website – it may not the finished product but it must be incredibly close to it and looks awesome. oh and thank god it is dark mode!

On a related note, is there any documentation planned for the Python SDK?

Garush

There is a lot of discussion going on in the Garush channel so go read it! I love this mock up of the site..

Also some interesting info on the community demographic – we are all old, I guess this makes us the geriatrics of the crypto world (probably Bitcoiners beat us at least) 😁 My dad is a Symbol holder and he is in his 70s by the way – anyone top that?

And I am with you HODLDOGS – I am also a Xenial although I may not come across as one from my crappy writing 😆

I am guessing that there is still a fair bit to do before we see it released but there has been a ton of other stuff happening recently so hopefully things will calm down a but we will see Garush coming soonTM.

Hermes

Also some cool designs in the Hermes wallet channel.

And this one really reminds me of something but I just can’t put my finger on it – video game cover from the 80s/90s maybe? It’s bugging me now..

I couldn’t see much about the progress of the project on Discord (but it was a very quick skim and I just looked at the pretty pictures). I guess watch this space and we will bring you updates when I hear more.

Twitter

Switching back to Twitter now and as you can imagine it has been completely dominated with news and discussion of the Harlock fork so finding other tidbits to report on has been harder than usual!

Harlock II – coming soon to a node near you

Looks like the NEM client release 0.7.0 is under development and testing as we speak which will be released next Tuesday. This will be followed by a 5-7 day period for node owners to upgrade before the fork. Will it be called Harlock still or does it get a new codename?

Symbol freebies

These tweets are in Japanese but I think, from auto translate that @tonkatuashibi is a tonkatsu shop in Yokohama and that they are giving away some cool Symbol gear to their diners who pay in Symbol (whilst stocks last). I assume that the merchandise was created by @Ogiri_taroumaru. Even if I got the translations a bit wrong – this is really cool, great to see these incentives popping up all over Japan.

Cool artwork

Saw this and loved it so I will end my post with this tweet – very cool @nem_symbol7!

Thanks!

Thanks as always for reading, I am going to try to switch off from the computer now and go relax. If you are looking for a node to harvest on then please consider supporting Symbol Blog by delegating to xymharvesting.net
