Symbol blockchain news update – 10/02/22

It’s Thursday already! I don’t have a lot to cover today but there are a few newsworthy items I spotted on Twitter so thought that I should write a short Symbol Blog update.

Don’t be shy – contribute

Just a reminder, if you are a NEM and/or Symbol holder then why not get involved and do your bit to help out? The more of us there are building on Symbol and NEM or tweeting or making cool artworks (or writing blog posts! 😁) the better. As people start seeing what is going on and the vibrant community we have we will start to see the growth and interest we all crave.

Valkyrie necklace

This is cool! I am the proud owner of a @sakamotometal silver Symbol coin and a big fan of his work. It looks like Hatchet had commissioned a silver Valkyrie x Symbol silver necklace – it looks amazing! I wonder if this will be a thing for all new partners, I suspect that @LeahWald may be getting special treatment 😁

Bring on the dragons

That leads in nicely to this. Calling all artists – @LeahWald is looking for a cool dragon avatar for Discord. I know that there is a ton of talent out there so if you want to show off your skills and potentially get a ton of likes and followers then get in quick and start designing! Looking forward to see what the community come up with here!

CryptoBeliever’s new look

Talking of amazing artwork… I love this! 🤩 The official avatars being designed by the team just look amazing – I am massively jealous, I want one! 😁

How COMSA NFTs work

This is an interesting read. It is in Japanese but as usual Google Translate comes to our rescue. Tech Bureau have just published the COMSA NFT specifications and explain how their NFTs can be recovered and assembled from the constituent transactions on the blockchain. If you have been reading the blog for a while you will have seen me publish something similar when decoding one of Gimre’s PNGs. All the data is there so if ever COMSA is no more (I highly doubt this) then your NFT is still there on the blockchain forever more and you will always be able to access and view it.

The crazy world of NFTs

Sorry, I still don’t get it. I need someone to sit me down and explain to me why NFTs are so valuable. I guess it is due to scarcity and collectibility rather than the quality of the artworks being sold? I just saw that @tsubasa_yozawa‘s latest “Crypto Panties” NFT currently has a high bid of 104,380 XYM on COMSA! I like asses as much as the next man but nearly $20,000 for this? 😮 Being a man of moderate means I could do a lot with $20K, just blows my mind that people are happy to spend this kind of money on something that I can see very little value in. I know, I am old and out of touch – please youngsplain (did I just invent a new word?) the reasoning behind it to me 😁

Note to self – crypto bras. The next big thing. Photoshop eyes on boobs and make a million in NFT sales.

On a smaller scale, I kind of get it, maybe, perhaps? 1,111 XYM for one purple pixel is obviously insane @LeonRedinger 😆 but it isn’t getting on for half the average annual salary in the developed world! 😬

Ah well, I guess $20K is peanuts for some people so who am I to judge. Oh and by the way, don’t get me wrong I love COMSA and think it is the best thing that has happened to Symbol in a long time 😁

Thanks!

Thanks for reading guys, I will be back again soon with another update. In the meantime if you are a regular reader and would like to help me out then please consider delegating to my node xymharvesting.net, I would really appreciate it!

Also if you are rich enough to drop $20k on an NFT then feel free to make a donation to the blog 😁
