03 Mar Symbol blockchain news update โ 03/03/22
Oh wow, I just realised that we are now three days into March and I haven’t posted anything this month still ๐ฌ Apologies for slacking off! It has been a bit of a tough week all round and I haven’t had a lot of time to do anything. I realise that the last couple of posts I wrote have been a little depressing (thank you to the person that checked if I was OK – I really appreciate the thought). So in today’s Symbol Blog update I am going back to upbeat and will report only on what has been happening in the world of Symbol and NEM, my happy place ๐
Hatchet becomes an NFT!
I’ve said this before, but I will say it again – I am a big fan of @RookBl‘s work, they have some serious talent! If you are a fan of Hatchet (aren’t we all?) then you can pick up an amazing illustration of her pirate persona on COMSA here. At the time of writing the bidding is up to 5,500 XYM with ~20 hours left until the auction closes. I think that this is still a reasonable price so could be a good opportunity to add something special to your NFT collection!
NEMTUS Hackathon results
The results of the NEMTUS Hackathon have been published and there are a lot of worthy winners!
Toshi’s “The Tower” took the top spot and won the 10,000 XYM grand prize! I think most have us have played it (some more religiously than others) and it really is fantastic so if you haven’t seen it yet then go check it out!
@subarumanSP‘s catchily titled “That time I got reincarnated in another world where the fiat currency is XYM!” snapped up the 5,000 XYM outstanding performance award – it really looks amazing and the link above is to an English version. I have been wanting to play this since it was released and still haven’t had the opportunity ๐ญ
There were also several other winners so please check out the full results – and definitely make sure that you play the games! Really impressed by the talent we have out there in the community! Congratulations to all of the winners!
The Tower gets a revamp
Toshi wasn’t content with the release that won the grand prize and has been gathering feedback from the community to improve the game. The latest release is now live and again I wish I had some time to sit down and replay it. You can check out all of the changes here. In short, there are lots of bug fixes, you can add your name to the high score board, there are new items, new monsters and the game got a whole lot more challenging. I can see that there will be some fierce competition for the top spot on the leaderboard so I will leave those of you that have a life outside of work to get busy! ๐

Post-launch opt-in
Didn’t opt in to claim your XYM before the snapshot? Well don’t fret, your time will come soon. The team are working hard (when they are not playing The Tower) to get this up and running so if you held XEM in a private wallet at the time of the snapshot you will be able to claim the equivalent number of XYM. I am sure that further details will come soon and when they do I will let you know what you need to do.
Valkyrie newsletter
If you are not on Discord then you may not have seen that Valkyrie have published their first monthly update. Please give it a read – there’s a progress report, details of press coverage and a ton of fun stuff in there. I won’t summarise here as you can just download the pdf for yourselves ๐

Wallet feedback
Missed this so adding it as a late news item. Please respond to this poll and vote for your favourite Symbol wallet (and give comments if you can). The team are (I guess) looking for feedback on what features any new official wallet releases need to have.
