17 Aug Symbol blockchain news update – 17/08/21
Good morning everyone! It’s a damp and miserable Tuesday here in the UK, hope that there’s one last spark of summer left, I need some sunshine in my life! Whatever the weather is like with you hopefully today’s Symbol Blog update will spark some joy! 😆
QUEST walkthrough and review
So yesterday I set myself my first quest on the QUEST platform. This was to write an article describing the features of QUEST and how to use the platform. I also include a bit of a review at the end. If you don’t have time to read it then the take home message is that it is awesome!
You can set yourself a task to complete within a given deadline and if other users like it then they can give you a “boost” in XYM and should you complete the task successfully you will be rewarded. I strongly suggest that you get involved and support the platform. If you have a talent then put it to good use and get paid for your efforts – spread the word and let’s make this big!
Coffee anyone?
Thanks @RadioRa26841511 for making me aware of this one. It seems that the Seed Village coffeeshop in Japan is accepting XYM payment (along with BTC and ETH). If you want to pay in crypto for your coffee then I would highly recommend using XYM as you will be paying a lot less in fees! 😁
I will be adding this to my places to visit if I am ever in this part of Japan (please COVID go away – I want to travel again!!). If you are a Fukuoka local then please go check it out!
Japanese translation / 日本語訳
Thank you so much @ounziw! He has translated our article on Symbol node monitoring with Zabbix into Japanese! You can find the article (based on a forum post by @symbolico1) here!
Spanish translation / Traducción Española
And here’s a Spanish translation of our article about Whiskey tokenisation on the Symbol blockchain at Symbol Blog Español – thanks guys!
Budding Pythonistas
The XYMbassadors are killing it with their Python education. I am really impressed! It took me forever to learn to code and they are picking it up in no time!
First up @GeranKlim made a Snake clone – anyone that used a Nokia 3310 (what an iconic phone!) will remember this fondly 😆
Next @DjCellBlock has gone down the musical route (unsurprisingly) and made a Python piano! Check out the video!
Finally (and sorry if I missed anyone out) @schwab_leonardo has written an automation script which looks from the code that it can move his pointer around his screen and click and interact with things (sorry if I got it wrong – your comments are in Portuguese!) 😆
It reminds me of this episode of the Simpsons where Homer automates his working from home 😂
Congratulations guys! Looking at your latest efforts I think that you are ahead of me in your learning, I need to step up a gear! Looking forward to seeing what will come next some new Symbol apps perhaps?
Thanks!
So that’s it for today’s update – let me know if you have any news and we will be back soon. Thanks for reading!
I’m a Symbol and NEM enthusiast and run this blog to try to grow awareness of the platform in the English-speaking world. If you have any Symbol news you would like me to report on or you have an article that you would like to publish then please let me know!
