10 Jul Tweet update 10/07/21
Time for Saturday’s Symbol tweet update, it’s a busy morning so let’s get straight into it!
Symbol-based game?! 😎
Thanks @AI27982784 for this translation of this tweet. It seems that @toshiya_ma is developing a new game that is integrated with the Symbol blockchain! This looks awesome! Apparently you can obtain rare weapons at random after defeating a boss. These weapons will be added as metadata to a users Symbol account. Can’t wait to play this one, hopefully there will be a translation of the text to English!
Exchange integration
Thanks @DjCellBlock for sending in this tweet from @xembook. I guess not many of you are going to be wanting to integrate Symbol into a crypto exchange (maybe I am wrong!) but this article is really very informative and is worth a read. It is a nice introduction to how exchange wallets work along with example code.
School of NEM
Thanks (again) @DjCellBlock this is super cool! It marries up my day job as an academic in biological research with one of my passions, the Symbol blockchain. Don’t worry I am not going to give you a lecture about cell culture but I will say that there is a real need for controlled metadata in science. The same cell line cultured in one lab might actually behave quite differently to another grown in a lab elsewhere and it is very important that scientific experiments are accurate and reproducible. Because of this researchers need to know what the cells are, where cells came from, conditions that they were cultured in, methods of transport etc.
There are repositories online which store these types of data but having a controlled vocabulary and stored as immutable data on the blockchain has a real world application in science. It’s great to see this happening, I keep thinking of applications in my field of work but at the moment nothing is coming. One day I will have my own bright idea for linking Symbol to science I’m sure 😁
Another School of NEM tweet, translated this time by @bestgoldangel (thanks!). This lesson explains that the Symbol public chain can interact with private chains in a hybrid configuration. This has benefits to companies that want to keep some data private on their own private chain but use the public chain for a subset of public transactions.
Thanks @SamiurR76186237 for translating this tweet for us! It is about the Symbol account restriction feature which allows an account to receive transactions from only a whitelist of accounts, equally an account owner can choose to blacklist certain accounts that are sending spam transactions (I may do this for the unscrupulous node owners that spam me with their node details!).
Thanks again for reading. If you want to send in a tweet or article please let us know (just DM Symbol Blog on Twitter) and we will try to publish it! Have a great weekend!
I’m a Symbol and NEM enthusiast and run this blog to try to grow awareness of the platform in the English-speaking world. If you have any Symbol news you would like me to report on or you have an article that you would like to publish then please let me know!
