17 Jul Symbol tweet update – 17/07/21 ☀️
Hi everyone, hope that you are enjoying your Saturday. It finally feels like summer here in the UK! 🥳 We have a few tweets to get through today so I will get on with it and bring you up to date with what’s going on in the Symbol Twitter world.
Share your thoughts on the official Symbol website!
Here’s a task for you all! @0x6861746366574 is looking for ideas and inspiration from the community for the official “new and improved” Symbol website that is under development. I Have to say I don’t particularly like the current site. It is very corporate and doesn’t really have a strong message about what Symbol is or why people should be using it. This I think needs to change. We need to strike a connection with visitors to the site, get people interested, build the community, show potential developers what the technology can do!
Please guys if you have any feedback or a wishlist for the new website then let @0x6861746366574 know!
Also if you don’t follow @0x6861746366574 then you should! 😁 She the NEM/Symbol CTO and is a bit of a genius whilst also being super down to earth and genuinely a nice person. If you want to keep up with the important Symbol news coming from official channels then you 100% need to be following @0x6861746366574!
School of NEM
School of NEM is even more prolific with their posts than we are here at Symbol Blog 😂 Thanks @SamiurR76186237 for sending this one in and thanks @SchoolofNEM for the original post. I think maybe the translation got a little messed up but it should be along the lines of:
In April 2020, a statement by core developer @Jaguar0625 was released to stop the repeated postponement of Catapult (aka Symbol) launch. A new structure “NEM Group” was created, and the NEM Foundation proposed a policy of dissolution and more emphasis on the voice of the community. The launch was announced in late November 2020.
As you have probably read (and we reported on here) the structure is again changing. This time I really like the ethos being the new method of working.
Thanks @DjCellBlock for this tweet about a NEM Seminar held in Tokyo in 2020. Sounds like an interesting meeting, I really wish that they had this kind of event in English as I would love to go to one. There is a link to a report on the meeting here in Japanese (Google Translate as usual does a reasonable job of converting to English).
Thanks @alediemmee for translating this one. Apparently NEM’s first slogan was “The new economy starts with you”. It is strange as this to have come back full circle and is now one of the guiding principles of the new Symbol decentralised structure as outlined in
Symbol seeks to disrupt economies — both existing, and emerging — by providing an efficient market for their operation that enables users to define and exchange value as digital tokens.
Symbol²: Reflections of Space Pirates
Oh no! This is a double translation Japanese -> Russian -> English. Let’s hope the meaning doesn’t get too corrupted after a round of Chinese Whispers.
The tweet explains that since Symbol was launched there has been plans to support stable coins, Lightning Network, and functions that enable IoT. Support for distributed file storage IPFS and has also been planned on the Symbol blockchain.
I’m a Symbol and NEM enthusiast and run this blog to try to grow awareness of the platform in the English-speaking world. If you have any Symbol news you would like me to report on or you have an article that you would like to publish then please let me know!
