15 Jul Symbol tweet update – 15/07/21

Happy Thursday(?) everybody! I am losing track of the days being locked down in the spare room in my COVID isolation. Very much looking forward to being able to spend some time with my family again. Hopefully I will get my sense of taste and smell back too and when I do I am cooking myself a fat juicy steak and opening a very expensive bottle of wine 😄 🥩🍷

Metamask equivalent for Symbol?

I wasn’t 100% sure what was going on here, I have to be honest 😂 But I read back through the original tweet below and it seems (I think!) that there is an IchiGo Symbol wallet that can be integrated into Google Chrome as a browser extension a bit like MetaMask.

Changes are afoot

Thanks @SamiurR76186237 for sending in this translation of a tweet from @TrendStream. I think that this relates to the recent news about shutting down NEM Group Limited (NGL) and it is a nice perspective. If we look at this in a “decentralised view” then NGL is just like a large node has disappeared. There are many, many other smaller nodes (like us!) that will continue building and recruiting and adding to the decentralised network.

One thing I'd like to add is that even if you say the organization failed, if you look at the decentralized view of this place, it's like one large node has disappeared. School of NEM

Here’s a @SchoolofNEM tweet sent in by @bestgoldangel giving us a bit of a history lesson. The NEM Blockchain Centre was set up in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2018 but apparently later closed with when the NEM Foundation was dissolved.

One more blast from the past from @SchoolofNEM (thanks @alediemmee for sending it in). Apparently in 2019 NEM was given a “BBB” rating (4th highest) by TokenInsight. This company seem to attempt to rate cryptoassets using scale as the bond credit rating system. Probably to try to give some air legitimacy to their system! 😂

Seems they are still making these rankings and NEM is now ranked as “B”. I would look at this as a bit of fun rather than any serious metric to help you decide which tokens to invest in! They don’t rate Symbol at this point but I think we all know that if they did it would be a solid “AAA” 😁

? In May 2019, #NEM's rating by @TokenInsight (a Chinese company that researches, analyzes and rates #blockchain projects), was BBB, fourth from the top.
