26 Jul Symbol blockchain tweet update – 26/07/21
It’s Monday again already, how did that happen? Oh well, here’s some Symbol Blog news to ease you into the working week. Sunday is always a bit of a slow news day (and I write these the night before) so it will be a short one today 😊
Congratulations! 🥳
Just saw this tweet from @alediemmee so just wanted to say well done guys for flying the flag for Symbol! I know all of you are very active on Twitter and many of you are helping me by sending in translations for me to feature in my daily updates. Keep up the good work! I feel like I am lagging behind so need to up my game on “sosh meeds”! 😆
Rebranding questionnaire and town hall Discord meeting
You are probably sick of me banging on about the discussion on rebranding but I am here to remind you (again!) to have your say. If you haven’t seen it already then you can find out more information, and fill in the questionnaire here..
There will also be a live town hall meeting on Tuesday July 27th (tomorrow) at 10:00AM UTC. Please try to attend if you can, I have booked a “meeting” into my Outlook calendar and blocked out some time so I can be there 😏
In progress analysis
Whilst we are on the subject, this tweet from @TrendStream is very interesting. He seems to have access to the in progress voting results and compares responses from the Japanese community (left) with the English speaking community (right). They seem to be in broad agreement with each other on the point of rebranding NIS1 (which actually shows that there is no agreement and almost 50/50 split!). However, there is less of an appetite in the west for rebranding Symbol. In Japan it seems that there is a small minority in favour of rebranding both NIS1 and Symbol (at least so far).
You can see that the current number of responses is far too low so come on guys, if you haven’t had your say then please do give your honest opinion 😊 I know that this is a controversial topic and has been discussed many times before but if you give your opinion and it gets resolved fairly, once and for all then I think we can all move on and never have to raise branding issues again (and we can all breathe a sigh of relief and be a lot happier!).
I will ask for the full results after they are published and try to write these up with some stats and comparisons as a blog post. Not sure who I need to speak to about this but I will find out.
Let’s sort this out
I think that this tweet from @0x6861746366574 sums up my feelings about the NIS1 (XEM) / Symbol (XYM) branding. If the exchanges don’t have a clue then obviously this leads to further confusion for buyers and the community in general. It IS frustrating(!!) and I think we are all feeling this pain at the moment. Let’s try to sort this out and then we can move forward.
Oh and whilst we are at it, if you have any ideas for tweaking the Symbol logo then this is the thread for you! 😊
Wen moon?
I think that the lesson here is that for a token to appreciate in value we need a robust ecosystem. It is not just up to the core developers to give us an awesome platform. We need to build on it, attract developers and end users for the applications that they build. This will in turn attract more users, developers and therefore utility and as a consequence token value will grow. Then moon 😆
Thanks to the Japanese community!
I set up this blog to try to talk about Symbol in my native language but it seems that our biggest readership at the moment is from Japan! I just want to say thank you to all of the Japanese community for reading, liking and retweeting Symbol Blog articles. Also a special thank you to everyone that has written excellent technical guides and have given me permission to translate and post on the blog – you guys are awesome! ❤️
And finally..
We are slowly building our readership and hopefully if we can continue to provide content and build links we will start to get some organic search engine traffic. At the moment I think nearly all of our engagement is from Twitter. I’d like to ask for some help so if you have a Symbol related website please consider linking to us and we will of course link back to you. If we work together then we will be stronger 💪
I’m a Symbol and NEM enthusiast and run this blog to try to grow awareness of the platform in the English-speaking world. If you have any Symbol news you would like me to report on or you have an article that you would like to publish then please let me know!
