Town Hall meeting – branding discussion
I’m going to start with this important tweet from @NEM_bol. There will be a town hall meeting on July 27th at 10:00am UTC. Harvesting on Symbol
Thanks @DjCellBlock for sending in this tweet from @ftakao2007. This is an important point about harvesting on the Symbol blockchain. The XYM that you delegate for harvesting can be withdrawn by you at any point. There is no lockup period as with other blockchains and so you can access your funds immediately at any time. It’s school time again! Thanks again @DjCellBlock for this @SchoolofNEM post this fits nicely with the last tweet and again deals with harvesting. Another important point to clarify is that unlike Bitcoin and coins that use a proof of work algorithm, you do not need vast computational resources to earn rewards. You also don’t have to have a computer or specialised mining rig running 24/7. Instead you can delegate harvesting to a node completely safely in a non-custodial manner and earn whilst both you and your computer are sleeping – it will save you a fortune on fancy graphics cards and electricity 😂. No computational resources are required on your part, you just need at least 10,000 XYM to activate harvesting. This is also the case for XEM (although get with the times guys – you will earn way more block rewards with Symbol)! 😊

These look great and I want one! Unfortunately it looks like stock is low and the chances of shipping from Japan to the UK are probably small. Maybe there will be more supply in the future or if you are selling Symbol tees and ship to the UK then let me know! 👕😎
School of NEM
You’re on a roll today @DjCellBlock and @SchoolofNEM – it looks like we have a double lesson! Here’s some history about NEM governance. In March 2017 the NEM Foundation was established with the goal of promoting NEM technology and expanding its real world adoption. Three heads of the foundation served, including an interim but eventually the foundation was dissolved in 2020. NEM Group Ltd (NGL) took over the reins after the NEM Foundation was disbanded until very recently when a new future for Symbol was announced. Thanks @SamiurR76186237 for sending in this tweet from @TrendStream. This is something that I hadn’t really thought about before but I am probably guilty of frustration with NGL and the seeming lack of announcements with various collaborations in the past. As @TrendStream rightly mentions, Symbol is a public blockchain that was designed to make it easy for companies to integrate into their projects. It is very much up to those using the Symbol technology to announce partnerships if and when they are ready to do so.
