Happy Halloween to you all, hope you are having fun and are enjoying what is left of the weekend! I’m still really sick so will keep today’s Symbol Blog update short and save myself for tomorrow’s update which I am sure will be full of surprises for all of us. Next week will be another week of revelations and I am excited to see what will happen. I think we are all expecting there to be a fork announced but at the moment I don’t think that this has been confirmed and there are certainly no further details on the logistics or timelines, again I think that this will be announced tomorrow so keep an eye on Twitter and I will be back to report as soon as I find out more.

The big reveal

It looks like we will finally learn more about what has been going on behind the scenes at Pirate HQ tomorrow at 10:00AM JST. That’s around 14 hours away now so not long to wait. Unfortunately it is also at 01:00AM here in the UK so I may not pick up the news until I wake up. You can be certain that I will be reporting on this in more detail once I find out more. If it is about the rumoured fork which will take away the Trust’s control over NEM and Symbol then node owners (and by the looks of it harvesters) will need to take note.

I will be upgrading my Symbol node to support the Pirate fork as soon as it is released – I stand in support of the captains and their team and think that this is the right way to move forward. I am against any alleged corruption or greed that might have been rife in the parasitic management of old and long for a fresh start and new direction for Symbol and NEM.

Here’s a stirring tweet from @nembear that I wanted to share. As usual it is automatically translated so may have lost some of the subtleties of the original Japanese text but I like it as is anyway.

Translation

I agree wholeheartedly with the sentiment. The community is strong, we are united and we are here to fight for the Pirates and for the future of NEM and Symbol. Anyone interested in keeping the status quo of NEM past better step out of the way as their time is over.

@TrendStream has morphed himself into Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and is ready for the fight. Bring it on!

Do all roads really lead to muscles? Is a metaphorical statement like “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger”? If so I agree 🦾 If it is literal then unfortunately I personally disprove this theory 😁 Come Monday though I will be ready to fight!

The Great Binance Bake Off

Everyone’s favourite baker @_tanaka_manami has been at it again and come up with this wonderful Symbol/Binance cake – I love it! There is definitely a strong desire to see XYM listed on Binance but I am sure it will be a question of when it happens rather than if it will happen. I guess patience is a virtue, maybe if @cz_binance sees this post it will expedite the process 😁

@_tanaka_manami I hope that you will be opening your own Pâtisserie in XYM City – I have a feeling that it would be very popular! Make sure that it is located somewhere close to Symbol Blog HQ please 😁

    Greetings! Thank you for these English blog posts. Could you summarize what the fork means for non-harvester hodlers of XYM? Do we need to do anything with our wallets? Perhaps connect them to some other node? Does this mean some new coin is coming that isn’t XYM or XEM? I think clean explanation of the situation for the many that simply bought/own XYM would be great. Thank you!

      Hi,

      I don’t think that anything has been announced yet but I think when if/when it is the team will write up a guide and make it public. I will also aim to write something up for the blog explaining what is going to happen and what people will need to do. There was no specific mention in the announcement yesterday but it sounds like there will be a lot of new information and announcements made this week so stay posted 🙂
