Hi everyone, hope that you are enjoying your weekends! I’m not going to write too much today as I need some time off this evening to chill. With that in mind I’m going to crack on and bring you the Symbol Blog news update!
NEM/Symbol Rosetta implementation

XYM is on Swapzone
Just spotted this whilst browsing Discord yesterday. It seems like XYM is now on Swapzone. I had never seen this site before but it seems that it scours different exchange providers and will return the most favourable rates on your chosen currency swap. I guess for now at least, it is not particularly useful for XYM since as far as I can see Changelly is the only instant exchange option for exchanging other cryptos for XYM. in the future though, as XYM is available in more places it could be a nice resource.

Blockbusters
Wow, the NFT-Drive stress testing has been insane! Look at those full blocks! It shows what Symbol is capable of, hopefully at some point in the not too distant future we will see this kind of transaction load on the mainnet too..
The testnet node owners are holding strong 💪 This tweet from @DaokaTrade shows the spike in CPU load from NFT-Drive testing.
Memory usage went up too but not as dramatically..
And well, as expected the amount of data per 100 blocks is pretty staggering! 😁
Browser wallet extension
I don’t know much about this project but it looks intriguing. @planethouki appears to be working on a browser extension wallet for Symbol. There is a disclaimer to test at your own risk and only to use testnet (don’t use on the mainnet!). Go check it out and if you want to write up and article from the blog then just let me know! 😊
Symbol-DNS
OK, so this looks very cool. @yclaw1015 started a QUEST to create a proof of concept for decentralised internet domains on the Symbol network. This is all magic to me and I am not going to try to explain how it works as I would need to sit down and do some serious research first!
According to the QUEST the outcomes of the project will:
– Use the Symbol blockchain root namespace as a top-level domain.
– Allow namespace owners to create subdomains on top of the top-level domain.
– Subdomain data will be stored as Metadata.
– Create a page which allows the user to input decentralized domains and redirect to a decentralized page (Sia / IPFS storage).
The idea is inspired by namebase.io, handshake DNS and NEM-DNS.

It really does seem like a worthwhile project and it is really nice to see so many people starting to develop new ideas with Symbol. I feel like we are not too far away from setting that “network flywheel” spinning. Let’s support all of our creators!
