25 Apr Symbol blockchain news update – 25/04/22

Short one today, just wanted to address the crazy rumour in the first story below and have a couple of other stories that I thought I would share 😊

Don’t believe everything you read on the internet! 😂

So after last week’s rumour in the Korean community about an exchange listing that sparked a short-lived price spike it seems that there is more misinformation going around. The Korean community were worried that NEM and Symbol had gone bankrupt, bizarrely because the @NEMOfficial Twitter account has been reset and all previous tweets were deleted (but are archived). Don’t worry, this Twitter reset was planned, it reflects the new NEM going forward, nobody has gone bankrupt and the Twitter account was not hacked!

Obviously this is quite ridiculous and I have no idea how this rumour started but as proof Hatchet posted the NEM and Symbol treasury addresses which have always been publicly available and you can see that the coffers are quite healthy indeed:

NEM treasury – balance 2,957,811,966 XEM

Symbol treasury – 2,557,093,927 XYM

Also just to prove that the team still control the Twitter account, here is a tweet sent this morning:

Please do your own research and do not blindly trust something that some guy said somewhere on the internet, 9 times out of 10 it’s going to be complete 🐂💩! 😂
