25 Jan Symbol blockchain news update – 25/01/22
Hello world! Sorry for the patchiness of updates recently, I am like a circus act trying to keep all those plates on sticks spinning at the moment and the blog has taken a bit of a hit. Life is a bit of a juggling act and I am having problems with my balls so to speak. I have been checking Twitter but due to the backlog, I am likely to have missed a lot of news since the last post. I have also noticed that my Twitter feed is slightly less safe for work than it was a week ago – crypto panties? 😳😬 Is that allowed in this day and age? 😆
Goku market
I am assuming that we will have some kind of an official announcement here in the future but I think that this is the second back and forth tweet between Hatchet and the Goku Market CEO meaning that something must be on the cards here 🤔
It is very obvious that the community want this to happen, the original NEM Official post has over 540 retweets so come on Goku Market – give us what we want! 😊

Must be funny, in a rich man’s world 🤔 Maybe one day I will be able to answer this question definitively, until then I can dream…
As you will have noticed it hasn’t been the best few weeks for crypto prices but it is nothing we haven’t seen before. In case you were worried, the NEM/Symbol finances are looking in excellent shape with $815 million (probably slightly less now) in the treasury. That’s almost as much as Ethereum, imagine how much this will be in a year or two (cue Dr Evil gif). We can do a lot with these funds, there are exciting times ahead!
What you reap is what you sow (or at least it should be)
This tweet thread made me angry. I am not including the first message as it’s not really for me to call out an individual as I am not aware of the full story behind it. I will say that it is completely unacceptable and extremely arrogant just to expect things of other people and give no time or input into the project that you have a vested interest in seeing succeed.
I agree completely that there should be no sense of entitlement or special treatment given to large holders of NEM and Symbol. Maybe this was the way in the past, I don’t know, but this isn’t the first time we have seen this kind of behaviour recently.
Please, contribute in whatever way you can. I give up my limited time to try to do my bit, Twitter is full of excellent community members that do far more than I do. We are a community of artists, talented developers, Twitter warriors and writers each doing our bit. We actually care about the project and want to see it succeed. If you are a XEM or XYM whale then surely you want to see this happen too.

I expect that this probably took some doing and is a typically modest post but great to see that everything is neat and tidy and as it should be. It is nice when everything is green, unless it’s a medical complaint, then it usually isn’t 😬

This actually threw up a very interesting thread on healthcare in the US – in short, it really sucks and is hideously expensive. I remember when I lived in the US I went to collect a prescription and it would have cost me $2,000 (or was it $5,000 even?!) if I hadn’t had insurance. Same prescription in England £9.35 or free if you live in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland. I’m very glad that I am not priced out of healthcare.
