24 Sep Symbol blockchain news update โ 24/09/21
Woohoo it’s Friday again! ๐ Trying to work out whether I should spend it catching up with work ๐ or getting started on the three PS5 games that I haven’t started playing yet ๐ Maybe there’s a balance to be struck there somewhere.
I am having a quick work break to write this since Symbol Blog got a lot of love on Twitter yesterday which was a really nice surprise! I think I gained around 200 followers overnight due to posts from @NCOSIGIMCITYNRE and @TrendStream. I wondered what had happened when I checked my phone this morning! Thank you guys, it’s really nice to know that I have some superstar readers! ๐ Also thank you to all of our new followers, it’s good to have you here!
Symbol Node List multilingual support!
Symbol Node List is a really nice tool that allows node owners to promote their nodes and harvesters decide who they would like to delegate to. As a node owner you can link your listing to your Twitter account and website to allow your followers to easily identify your node. It will also display any node downtime as well as the server and bootstrap versions running on the node so that harvesters can make sure that the node is well maintained. It is also possible to check the number of delegates, free slots, recent harvests and total balance delegating to the node. It really is a great resource and it is now offering multilingual support!
Updating your node listing is a simple process which is detailed on the site. You just need to have Apache or another webserver installed and host a JSON file from your root webserver directory e.g. in my case /var/www/html (the place where you would put your index.html). The file should be named “nodeSetting.json” and if this is present then it is automatically picked up and the details are displayed on Symbol Node List. In my case the JSON file looks like this:
{
"limitHarvesterCount": "200",
"twitterAccount": "blog_symbol",
"comment": "Symbol Blog node - help support us!",
"comment_ja": "ใทใณใใซใใญใฐใใผใ-็งใใกใใตใใผใใใใฎใๆไผใฃใฆใใ ใใ๏ผใใใใจใใใใใพใใ :)",
"comment_ru": "ะฃะทะตะป Symbol Blog - ะฟะพะผะพะณะธัะต, ะฟะพะดะดะตัะถะธัะต ะฝะฐั!",
"comment_ko": "Symbol ๋ธ๋ก๊ทธ ๋
ธ๋ - ์ฐ๋ฆฌ๋ฅผ ์ง์ํ์ญ์์ค!",
"detailUrl": "https://symbolblog.com/"
}
You can see that the information about the node can be set in multiple languages (with a 50 character limit) so I just did a simple Google Translate into Japanese, Korean and Russian from the original English text (I hope that it’s not too bad!). You can see that you can also add your Twitter handle and a link to your website too. When I set this up yesterday it took less than 10 minutes for these details to be imported into the site so it is super quick!
When a user accesses the site there is a language option in the top right hand corner that will allow them to view the node list descriptions in their language of choice. If setting this up yourself seems like a difficult task then don’t worry @ahikicoin can help! There is a set up service that is super easy to use and will only cost you 10 XYM!
Hidden talents
We all have something to offer. You don’t have to be a tech wizard to help the Symbol cause. As picked up by @TrendStream and @mikunNEM (and in yesterday’s post) we have a multi talented community out there. It’s really great to see the passion and talent on display.
For those of you that are XYM followers but are not so actively engaged, try not to hide away! Contribute however you can and we can keep growing stronger. Whether you a writer, artist, designer, developer, translator (or anything really!) the community would appreciate your help. It is now time for us all to come together and fight for the cause that unites us – Symbol ๐ช๐
Relax with a cup of herbal tea (Symbol style)
Saw this tweet from @KisekinoF and wanted to share. I love the Symbol teacup and the purple flower is a nice touch too ๐ I think that the herbal tea was provided by @shintaso_ and paid for with XYM(?) his quest was featured in this post.
Seems that @RadioRa26841511 also bought some! Enjoy! ๐ซ
I wonder if can be shipped to the UK. I think I need some herbal tea, which of these is good for stress? ๐
Thanks!
That’s it for today’s post, I was going to take today off as I didn’t have much to report but I really wanted to say thank you to all of the new followers and everyone that has promoted Symbol Blog since we started a few months ago! I really appreciate the support!
Have a great weekend whatever you are doing!
I’m a Symbol and NEM enthusiast and run this blog to try to grow awareness of the platform in the English-speaking world. If you have any Symbol news you would like me to report on or you have an article that you would like to publish then please let me know!
