Symbol blockchain news update – 22/10/21

It’s Friday again! Time flies when you’re having fun (or working hard). I am probably going to take some time off this weekend so there may not be a post until Monday, we will see. Anyway, I am rubbish at writing introductions but my SEO tool says that I should always include a link back to my site from the article so welcome to Friday’s Symbol Blog update! 😁

Facepalm 🤦‍♂️🤡

Well I saw this yesterday and it made me laugh as it was such a pathetic justification for their own misjudgement. Sorry I missed the original post but I think both @NCOSIGIMCITYNRE and @Jaguar0625 tweeted to call @David_TH_Ham out on this point (and rightly so).

Mr Ham’s argument is frankly laughable and I cringed when I read it. I am keeping away from writing anything I might regret as I don’t want to get into personal attacks on people’s intelligence here but as you will already know Mr Ham is a NEM Trustee and was called out for shilling another project by @LeonRedinger.

Three days after this tweet Mr Ham provided a response, not apologising for his lack of judgement on the matter, but instead to attack an unpaid community member for listing a NEM/Symbol related artwork on OpenSea 🤦‍♂️.

I wasn’t going to let this go as @bestgoldangel does a lot for the community and should not be singled out by a NEM Trustee for selling her own art, which actually advertises NEM, on an Ethereum platform. The argument is frankly ludicrous! You have someone that is in charge of NEM’s entire budget shilling another project which to be honest seems as shady as hell (see this post on the NEM Trust/NGL dealings) and they are using this as a counter argument against the accusation – I despair. Even if @bestgoldangel was in the wrong here (which she most definitely is not) this can’t be used as an excuse to validate his behaviour. It’s like saying “other people steal so it is OK if I do it too” or a child in the school playground telling the teacher “she did it first”.

Anyway, it seems that the outcome of this tweet is that it has fueled the community’s anger with the Trustee’s. I think that Mr Ham should refrain from tweeting as he seems to end up digging himself a deeper hole. Haha, just seen this! Maybe he is taking advice from some of his colleagues and being more cautious with what he says. Since whatever was in his deleted tweet didn’t go down well 😂 Has a whiff of Donald Trump about his Twitter posts.

Symbol Blog video edition?

@OliverMuldoon came up with the idea of having a video edition of the Symbol Blog update. I have to admit I was against the idea of doing it myself but happy for someone else to if they wanted.

Oliver experimented with automatic voice over of the article and here are the results! 😁

If it is a case of letting the computer do the work then maybe this could be something we do in the future but as time is always against me I am not sure that I can commit to it right now. If you would like to see it happen let me know in the comments section or on Twitter, if there is overwhelming support for the idea we will have to work something out.

Goku Market

It looks like Hatchet had a meeting with Koji Fujishiro, the CEO of Goku Market and by the tone of the tweet it was obviously very productive. I am looking forward to seeing a XYM listing on Goku Market in the near future!

Symbol burger

It’s morning here and I missed breakfast so writing this is making me hungry. @KisekinoF has taken two of my favourite things (burgers and Symbol) and married them together! It looks like another of my favourite things, beer, was involved too – かんぱーい! 🍻

Symbol curry

Following on with the food theme @higelifejp, a Japanese curry shop is now accepting XYM payment! I would sell my soul for a curry right now even though it is 9:52 AM.. Great to see even more venues accepting XYM, there is a rapidly growing list in Japan – well done guys 😊

Have a good weekend!

That’s it for Friday’s post. Have a great weekend and we will be back soon with another Symbol Blog update! 🍻
