It’s Saturday and here is the latest edition of the Symbol Blog update. As I have been writing (I always write the intro last) I have received my first donation to the blog! Just want to say a huge thank you to whoever donated – it really means a lot and has brightened up my day knowing that someone appreciates my work enough to donate 😃

NFT-Drive

In case you missed it.. I published an article yesterday describing my experience of participating in the NFT-Drive beta test (and creating cat related NFTs!) 😆 If you are interested in NFTs and how to store them on chain in Symbol then please check out the article!

On a related note @RadioRa26841511 is translating the article to Japanese (it’s usually the other way around! 😂). He has added this as a QUEST so if you want to see it happen then give him a boost!

Oh wow – that was fast work@RadioRa26841511! It’s already written and published on nemedia! I wrote the paragraph above last night and by this morning it’s completed 😊

More games!

@ulunta2 has developed a game in Python for tomatina. The Japanese community is really killing it and I think many of them are first time programmers. You guys are putting us westerners to shame – I hope that next year we get some more contributors from the rest of the world too (I promise I will be one of the participants!).

If you are interested in game development in Python@ulunta2 recommends Pyxel which is described as “a retro game engine for Python”. It looks great and I am a huge fan of retro games so I would like to give this a try myself.

Negotiations

I saw this translation of a @TrendStream tweet and thought I should share. I think it is a given that the all of the community would like to see the transition of funds from NGT to the core devs and their pirate crew go smoothly. I think that negotiations are still ongoing and hopefully there is a resolution in sight.

As you will have seen from the Symbol flags and general messages of support we hope that this can be put to rest soon so that the team can return to giving their full attention to actually developing Symbol rather than playing politics which I am sure is exhausting and a major ballache 😆

Symbol Blog obviously supports both the pirates and the Japanese community.I think it is important that we work together as a team for the benefit of Symbol – this is our mission. I feel like momentum is slowly building and by working together we can shine a light on Symbol 💪 🤓

QUEST updates

Just a heads up, QUEST will be undergoing some minor updates. Seems that there was a mistake in the Symbol documentation on secret locks and block times being 15 rather than 30 seconds. This is causing the lock time to be double the expected time. It sounds like a simple fix so I am sure this will be corrected in no time 😊

So I had no idea about this but it seems that the moderators all chipped in to buy a NEM medal made by @sakamotometal for Oliver! It looks great! You do deserve a medal – I think it has been a crazy few months in the NEM world and you have remained calm and given support and guidance to the CMs. Also without you there would be no Symbol Blog so I thank you for encouraging me to become an active part of the community too.

Also I spotted this tweet so another thank you to @OliverMuldoon! It is always good to hear kind words about Symbol Blog!

I need to go get organised as we have a wedding to go to later and I don’t think I have worn a suit (or even a shirt) for years. If I don’t fit into it then I am going to have to go shopping! 😆
