Symbol blockchain news update – 16/06/23

Little rushed today as I am deep into bug fixing and didn’t want to pull myself away 🐜🗞️. Anyway, I’m back with another update and hopefully managed to pick up the biggest Symbol news stories from the previous 7 days.

ONEPLATE

The Food NFT Consortium has created a new app called ONEPLATE in collaboration with NFT-Drive that runs on Symbol. Apparently, ONEPLATE will enable users to start trading NFTs without needing a wallet or a marketplace to trade on, removing typical barriers to entry. The app offers a simplified NFT trading process using a URL that can be shared with a QR code or NFC technology. The tool is designed to be easy to use, with PC and mobile versions available. It sounds like a neat idea and safe, peer-to-peer trading (presumably fee free?) is definitely something that has the potential to take off.

DrugN goes stateside

I have written about DrugN multiple times before so I am not going to go into detail on what the app does, however, in short, it is aimed at cutting down on wasting medicines and getting patients to remember to take them by rewarding them through the app and obviously it runs on Symbol 😊

They seem to have been selected for the “Silicon Valley Project” scheme run by METI, the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and JETRO Japan External Trade Organisation. I don’t know much about the scheme but I think that the DrugN developers will visit Silicon Valley and talk about their business ideas with leading tech industry experts, entrepreneurs and funders. Nice work DrugN!

NEMTUS community meetup

NEMTUS are organising a community meetup in Sapporo in Hokkaido in Japan on June 24th. The venue is ABELiA, a bar that already accepts Symbol payment and it looks like it will be a fun event. Hopefully, we will see some pictures after the meetup! 😁

Flying the pirate flag

NEMTUS continue to promote Symbol in Japan, this time at the Hokkaido Open Source Conference 2023 in Sapporo. Unsurprisingly, it also coincides with the meetup – I hope that lots of community members are there to support NEMTUS and go for some drinks after the conference. I am sure that there will be some new Symbol recruits joining the fun too!

QUEST update

`This reminds me, it’s been too long since I visited QUEST and I will go and boost this quest as soon as I have finished writing this post! The QUEST developer is working hard on new features for QUEST 2.0 with follow-up boost support now implemented. I see that there are plans to enable NFT and mosaic support too which will be cool.

Never gonna give you up

I feel like it was only yesterday that he reached level 2,000 but he’s still going strong and has now claimed past the 3,000th floor of The Tower. This is some serious dedication – surely nobody can beat this record?!

Thanks!

Thanks again for reading. I will be back again next week with more updates – have a good weekend! 😊
