31 Aug Symbol blockchain news update 01/09/21
It’s 1st September already and summer is officially over! 😭 I am still here and bringing you the latest news from the world of Symbol, in fact this is Symbol Blog post number 97 and we only started up in late June! As usual I have combed Twitter so you don’t have to. I didn’t find so many stories today but here’s a summary of what I did find 😁
HTTPS – Symbol nodes
I am quoting my own tweet here but the real information is in this HackMD post by Fernando! As you may have been aware there will be a requirement for dual and API nodes to have a domain name (rather than just an IP address) as well as supporting HTTPS. At the moment only a small minority of nodes have HTTPS enabled and so it will be quite a sweeping change when implemented.
In order to alleviate some of the burden and help out us node owners there will be a future Symbol Bootstrap release that will take care of most of the heavy lifting and simplify the migration process. This is good news for me as I looked into doing this myself and I was not confident that I would be able to do it without messing up my node, at least in the short term. Give me a foolproof method and I will be all over it though.
Check out what’s going down in XYMcity
@OliverMuldoon has written up a summary of what the Pirates have been up to over the last week. This is another reason that you should be on the XYMcity Discord server – it really is full of gems and you get to see what everyone has been working on! You can also read my poorly thought out ramblings in the #community-managers channel too 😆
Read all about it… Symbol in the shinbun 📰
This is one of the very few Japanese words I know (don’t ask me why as I don’t read the newspaper). As you can see in the tweet below, an article about Symbol was featured in a Japanese newspaper Iwate Nippo. It seems to be a regional newspaper published in the Tōhoku region of Japan. I am not sure how many readers it has but it is safe to say that this type of coverage will be highly welcomed!
I have to admit I don’t really know what the article is about. I think it is to do with XYM payment for accommodation (???) but I don’t know where I came up with this! 😆 I tried to find the article online so that I could translate but unfortunately I couldn’t locate it on the website.
Community Managers
Did I do this one already? Apologies if I did report on this but here’s a nice post from @OliverMuldoon who is singing the praises of the Symbol community managers – good work you guys! 💪
You’ve got my vote
CoinEx asked users to vote for their favourite crypto asset. The result was a landslide victory for XYM! A huge 72.8% of the 1,447 respondents voted for XYM. I didn’t see it until voting had closed but I think you can guess what I would have chosen 😁
Thanks!
Thanks again for reading – we will be back soon with another update! If you have any news then let me know – it would be amazing to get a bit of help! 😊
