It’s Friday! We are back and I don’t know about you but I am feeling that life as a Symbol holder is looking pretty good. Harvesting a block now will buy you a meal rather than a couple of beers so go out and enjoy yourselves this weekend! 😁
Don’t lose your vote
This is really important, if you are a whale with > 3M XYM then you have a massive vested interest in Symbol doing well and should care deeply about the health of the network. We all saw the problems last month when finalisation stalled, luckily it was resolved quickly but it exposed the fact that voting nodes did not update their keys and, as I gather from Discord many of the large accounts that are entitled to vote are choosing not to, leading to greater centralisation and reliance on fewer nodes to support finalisation.
If you are in the boat of being able to run a voting node but are currently not doing so I am sure that you will be able to get help and advice on how to proceed through the #help channel on Discord.
By helping the network you are protecting your investment, it is important for you just as much (more so even) as it is for the rest of us lowly (<3M) XYM holders.
Iconic
A few more teasers from the new website and today it is all about the icons! All your favourite social media channels are covered and have been given the Symbol treatment. If I were to see these for the first time I would instantly associate them with Symbol’s new look. It’s great to put our stamp on these.
Is this (finally) the FINAL logo design? At first I read it as being a done deal but reading it again I don’t think that this is what the text means. The team are “quite” fond of this as the final design but I guess this means that the decision still isn’t made. I think it must be a priority now to fix the final logo if the website is being launched later this month 😬
I like it, I think we featured this previously and I preferred the version without the shadow on the shield but it’s cool. I’m not picky, I think it works really well and it fits nicely with the overall design from what we have seen in the teasers. Let’s make a final decision and go with it. I have written about this before and I get antsy at indecisiveness, put me out of my misery, please! 😁
I really love the badges too – these are awesome! I see in the “protocol” badge the Symbol logo looks like the “possibly final” logo above it so I am guessing that changing the logo will lead to a lot of work updating everything else at this point.
Design from the archives
Hatchet has also posted some of the initial design ideas from earlier in the year. These look great! I guess the graphic novel idea was shelved but that’s maybe a good idea since we should be looking forward rather than backwards. Every novel needs a few villains though 😜
Don’t sign it!
Just a reminder in English and Japanese (I have said this a million times not but it is worth repeating). Never sign a transaction if you don’t know what it is! I like Hatchet’s analogy a lot. Blockchain is not a post office – don’t sign for a package if you don’t know what it is! 😂
