22 Nov Symbol blockchain news update – 22/11/22
Good morning XYM City! hope that you are well! This month seems to be flying by at the moment and it’s not long until that magical time of the year when we get to read some excellent posts on the NEM Advent Calendar! If you haven’t signed up already then please do – I am looking forward to seeing what everyone has been up to 😊
Gamer’s paradise
If you have some time on your hands then you’re an incredibly lucky person and also you might want to take a look at this page and start playing some excellent games built around Symbol. I have written about most of these in a bit more detail and hopefully, I will be able to share these with you at some point in the future too!
Movie NFTs? 👀
I spotted this on COMSA last week and I am not 100% sure of the background here but as far as I can gather it looks like Turning Point 2 is a movie and some shots and videos from the movie have been auctioned on the COMSA platform. Warning, whilst not exactly NSFW it may raise a few eyebrows in the office if you go browsing these NFTs! 😂
I think that the auctions for the “UNIQUE” tokens have now ended but there are some “BUNDLE” tokens left if you are interested in picking one up.
XYMHarvestMonitor is back!
In last week’s post, I said that XYMHarvestMonitor was temporarily down but a few hours later it was back up again! If you are harvesting this is the essential Telegram bot to install. It will notify you every time that you harvest, receive a beneficiary payment or are sent funds or mosaics.
Congratulations!
This is an uplifting post after the misery of crypto Twitter in recent weeks. Hanabata_ke commemorated the birth of his son using Heartlog’s on-chain NFT service and I believe it was entered into the Tokyo Web3 FES! I was thinking of buying the baby naming calligraphy package when I first saw the site but my son is two and a half now so feels like I might have missed the boat a bit now 😁
As easy as (Raspberry) Pi
This is an interesting post from @ishidad2. He has written an article about getting a Symbol Node running on a Raspberry Pi. I will have to follow along with this as I finally managed to get hold of a Raspberry Pi 4 a couple of weeks ago. The first thing that I tried doing was to build A Symbol node and compile everything from source. Unfortunately, I could only get hold of the 4BG RAM model and it ground to a halt eventually. I tried a few general memory-saving tips online but still didn’t manage to compile it without running out of RAM. Maybe this will work though, I will let you know when I get around to trying it. I should also backorder an 8GB model 😅
Symbol Walk
OK, so I don’t know a lot about this at the moment but it looks as if a new move-to-earn style game is about to be released and it is using Symbol technology.
It looks pretty cool and apparently, you can earn actual XYM for taking part. It will be a good incentive to get off my ass and take a break from a computer once in a while 😁
It’s all in Japanese but hopefully sometime after it is officially released we will see an English translation. It looks fun so I would like to play!
Somewhere under the rainbow
Just a reminder, after all the craziness of 2022 – stay safe out there, never get sucked in by the hype and only spend what you can afford to lose. It’s nice to see it’s business as usual in the Symbol community, still building, still passionate and still strong – that’s the best way to be 😊
Thanks
Thanks for reading! I will be back again soon with another update and I really hope that I will be able to publish some other things that I have been working on soon too.
I’m a Symbol and NEM enthusiast and run this blog to try to grow awareness of the platform in the English-speaking world. If you have any Symbol news you would like me to report on or you have an article that you would like to publish then please let me know!
