14 Nov Symbol blockchain news update โ 14/11/22
Sorry! I know it’s been a while. I have been writing lots of other things and have neglected the news updates lately ๐ฌ I may not be able to catch you up on everything that has been going on over the last couple of weeks as it would be a very long post, but I will try to pick out some of the juicy tidbits for your consumption.
“Decentralized Guild”
A big congratulations to @faunsu19000, @Karriz_ and @toshiya_ma for their collaborative work on “Decentralized Guild“, a DAO platform that they built from scratch in 2 weeks(!). It was entered into the “Tokyo web3 Hackathon” in which they progressed to the second round of judging and managed to pick up 3rd prize – fantastic! Well done all of you ๐
Return of the testnet
A new testnet has been released! You can download the latest Symbol Bootstrap release here and set up a testnet node. There is also a new release of the desktop wallet which supports the new testnet so if you want to experiment with any of Symbol’s functionality without spending any money on transactions then please give it a go.
You can also pretend that you are rich by starting a voting node and setting up harvesting on your account ๐
It’s the most wonderful time of the year
It’s nearly Christmas and this year I am well prepared! I already have my NEM Advent Calendar article written and ready to go for my slot on the 3rd of December! ๐ Please consider writing an article, there are only 14 slots taken at the moment and it would be great to see the calendar full. It doesn’t have to be super technical so if you have something NEM or Symbol related that you think other people might be interested in then get writing!
Tsunagi
@XEMbook has been hard at work on his Tsunagi SDK and it now supports Javascript, PHP, Ruby, Dart and Go. I am not sure whether there are more languages to come but between these, the official SDKs and Toshi’s C# SDK I think that Symbol has most bases covered now. No excuses developers – get using these and start building on Symbol! ๐
SSS developer interview
The Symbol Times has another exclusive interview, this time with @inatatsu_csg, developer of the excellent SSS extension so get over there and check it out once you have finished reading this post! ๐
PS: there is a new SSS release out today!
XYMHarvestMontior closes temporarily
Late addition as I forgot to include it in the original post! It looks like the excellent XYMHarvestMonitor has shut down but I think from the translation it will come back at some point in the future, just not sure when:
“Due to various circumstances, it will be closed for a while. We will let you know when we will reopen.”
XYMFit illustration contest closing soon
Just a reminder to all budding artists out there. The XYMFit illustration contest closes on the 20th of November. You can find out more here and there is 3,000 XYM in prize money up for grabs too!
Awesome ๐
Lastly, I would like to give a shout-out to the Sandwich Factory and all of the generous community members that donated to provide these delicious-looking bento boxes to local children. Always brightens my day to see people doing good things for others, we need more of that at the moment.
Thanks
Thanks for reading, apologies again for the long delay. Hopefully, at some point, you will get to see some of the other things that I have been writing๐คUntil then, safe out there in this crazy crypto world โค๏ธ
I’m a Symbol and NEM enthusiast and run this blog to try to grow awareness of the platform in the English-speaking world. If you have any Symbol news you would like me to report on or you have an article that you would like to publish then please let me know!
