10 Aug Symbol blockchain news update – 10/08/21
It’s a late Symbol Blog news post today as I have been on childcare duties but I said that there would be an update today so I will keep my promise!
Tomatina
Thanks @Niashabid17 for sending in a translation of this @xembook tweet. This is really cool, I hope that we can get some more details for you about the tomatina event this year. It seems that there will be lots going on with multiple people developing activities for the day.
I am not sure about the date (or activities) but I will keep you posted if I hear anything and if anyone knows more then please tell me! It seems from this tweet that the tomatina event will happen this month so keep your eyes peeled! Also there will be an “Advent Calendar” even in December so we will be following that closely too 😊
Shin Kuma node support
Congrats to all recipients of the Shin Kuma node support this week. I wanted to give a special shout out to @nobu_kyutech (congratulations! 🥳) for his award for his excellent Symbol Python articles which we have translated and featured on the blog (e.g. here).

Another @xembook tweet translated by @SamiurR76186237 (thanks!) mentions Symbol integration on a variety of platforms. I think that we have reported on all of these in the past but it is worth reminding you of some of the excellent work going on to integrate Symbol into video games. This shows the skill and imagination of the community members leading these efforts but also the ease of use and versatility of Symbol. I am looking forward to playing some of these games in the future!

Just saw this and wanted to say congratulations to @mikunNEM. Damn, this is fast work! Starting learning basic Python on August 4th to understanding the code to send aggregate transactions less than a week later! Awesome! 😎

Opt in
This is a bit of history on the XYM opt in process from @bestgoldangel courtesy of @SchoolofNEM. Also a reminder from me that if you held XYM in your wallet at the time of the snapshot which was block 3,105,500 on March 12th 2021, you are eligible to claim your XYM as part of the Symbol post-launch opt in. You can read more about how to do this here but in short you will be able to claim the same amount of XYM as you had XEM in your wallet at the snapshot time. This applies even if you since sold your XEM, they just had to be in your wallet at the snapshot block. So don’t miss out on free XYM if you are entitled to it!
