15 May Symbol blockchain news update – 15/05/22
Sorry, been a crazy busy and super stressful week so I haven’t posted in a while! Today will be a roundup of the news stories that I spotted over the last six days although I am currently completely out of touch with Twitter and Discord so will have missed lots! Will try my best to keep up next week and have some more regular posts 😊
MEXC listing
So in case you, like me, were living under a rock last week you will have seen that XYM was finally listed on MEXC. Unfortunately, NEM did not make the cut this time and came a relatively distant third to the slightly seedy HugHug 👙. Better luck next time NEM, hopefully, we will see some more community action next time an exchange runs this kind of competition. I should imagine though that we will see a MEXC XEM listing, seems a bit crazy that they would spend the time integrating XEM into the exchange and then not list it. Not a particularly efficient use of time and resources if they don’t.
Trademark crazy
Haha, spotted this on Discord, interesting to see what NGL were spending their money on. Looks like they were trademarking Symbol left. right and centre and for some reason opposing someone else’s trademark for “SIMBLE”. They also applied to trademark some LuxTag monstrosities watches and paid for “NFT advice” (I wonder who profited from this) – money not well spent all around I think. Would be interesting to see the rest of this spreadsheet – I am sure it is full of wasteful spending but is probably confidential and we will never know where large sums of money from the treasury went.

BBQ time
Well, this looks like paradise and thanks to nembear you can now spend your hard-earned XYM on the beach and get yourself some delicious BBQ! After the few weeks that I have just had, I am sorely tempted to up and move the family somewhere like this and enjoy a more relaxing lifestyle. Starting to realise that work should really come second to a happy and stress-free life. One day when Symbol is a top 5 coin blue seas and sandy beaches might be a thing 😁
HODL on 🦾
Well, you probably noticed that last week was a bit of a bad week for crypto prices to say the least! Just be glad that you were not all in on LUNA. A friendly reminder from NEM and Symbol official Twitter accounts that now might be a good time to grow some diamond hands 😊
It may look like it’s all doom and gloom and the death of crypto in general but probably most of you have seen this before and many of us have seen it more than once. Let the panic subside, hold strong and wait for the next bull market. Buy high and sell low is never a good idea. Interestingly Symbol has actually moved up into the top 100 on CoinMarketCap in all of the market turmoil 💪
Hatchet has broken her Twitter boycott to provide a little bit of context to the situation and to assure us that they have been prepping for the bear market and that there is plenty of money left in the kitty to implement plans for the next 3-4 years as well as a pretty huge treasury to fall back on if needed.
The team will be building through the storm and when it clears we will be in a much stronger position with a killer project ready for the next bull run. I am still not convinced that we will see the long crypto winter of 2018 repeat itself, maybe there will be a faster recovery this time around? Time will tell I guess. I will continue the plan that I have had for many a year, HODL strong, be patient and don’t panic.
XYM comic – issue 2
I really like XYM Comic and you can see below that issue two has now been released (both in English and Japanese). This time it is a fun advertisement for @tonkatuashibi and the sisters are eating some delicious tonkatsu 😁 Whoever illustrates these is very talented!
For those of you not familiar with manga (like me) you don’t read left to right. I helped a little tidying up the English translation of the text and was a little confused so h_gocchi gave me a crash course in how I should be reading it. It goes right to left and it makes a lot more sense this way! 😁
Sakamoto goes NFT
Well this is an interesting development. Everyone’s favourite coin maker Mr Sakamoto is selling NFT coins on COMSA! It looks like not only will the winner receive the NFT but they will also be shipped a real physical coin in the post. The bidding is currently at 1,777 XYM which is a complete bargain so get bidding – there are two days left until the auction closes! He also ships internationally for a small fee so no excuses 😊

I haven’t had time to read through the chat yet so maybe that’s a story for another post now, sure there are some gems in there so I really need to get reading! It is going on my to do list now..
