14 Apr Symbol blockchain news update – 14/04/22
Good morning XYM City! Hope that you are well and the sun is shining wherever you are ☀️ I am feeling upbeat this morning as officially I am on holiday until the 25th! Obviously I am still in front of the computer writing about Symbol and may have to do some work later but I am happy nonetheless 😁 I do plan to take a few days off over Easter though and then next weekend it’s off to sunny Seville for a short break! The first time since before the pandemic and before my son was born – it will be weird getting on a flight again!
OK, enough chat, I should get writing as we have a few stories to cover today!
Teamwork makes the dream work
It’s fantastic to see the community all pitching in and spreading the word about Symbol since Hatchet’s demise. Just a reminder that there is now a “coordination” channel on Discord where tweets are posted that need us to come together and spam the hell out of them with replies about Symbol. We don’t just want a boring text reply, as they say: “a picture is worth a thousand words” so bookmark this link to the official Symbol artwork which is free for all of us to use for anything we want.
Let’s make a statement and show the rest of the world that they should sit up and take notice of Symbol! It takes a minute to send a tweet so if we all do it then our Symbol army will start to grow.
The Japanese community are leading the way here and I am amazed at how quickly they have organised themselves to drive this forward – impressive stuff! There is a post from matsunoki on Discord explaining what they are working on and us westerners need to give our support. Language barriers are tricky but with some coordination, I think that we will become a lot stronger. Remember we need to grow Symbol outside of Japan too so don’t be lazy, give a few minutes of your time each day and help out with a few tweets.
Finally on this topic, there is an online survey that you can fill out where you can recommend Twitter accounts of Japanese community members that are prominent Symbol advocates – if you know of someone that should be listed then go check it out!
Symbol goes manga
I am really looking forward to this! I just hope that there will be some English translations! 😊 @xym_comic will shortly start publishing a new comic every two weeks. Give them a follow and keep your eyes peeled. I am not sure what the format will be but I have a feeling it could be issued as an NFT. Make sure you pick up the first edition – could be worth a fortune in years to come! 😁
Manga is huge everywhere and I am assuming that this will be the first crypto comic so support them and let’s make this big news! I have a feeling it could really start attracting new people. Also I guess it could even provide a platform for independent artists in the future so I am really excited to see how this goes.
Buy your CBD with XYM
CBD is huge nowadays and is touted as being the cure for almost everything 😁 Even if you are a little dubious there is at least some evidence that it can help with a variety of ailments. Apparently, there is a Japanese brand of CBD products that will be sold at “CBD Expo Japan” this weekend and you will be able to buy them using XYM! Great to see yet more Japanese companies embracing crypto payments and Symbol leading the way in this area.
Keep on giving!
Please, if you haven’t already (and even if you have) go buy one of Oleg’s NFTs. All money raised will go towards helping Ukraine. It is heartbreaking to see what is going on there so just give what you can afford and you will receive an NFT as a thank you.
If you have donated previously then you can go find yourself in the leaderboard 😊 Please go knock me out of the top 10!

Helping the children
Sorry Klim, I only just picked this one up. It looks like there is a charity initiative to help sick children which accepts donations in XYM and XEM – please go check out their website and consider giving a donation.
So much writing
I thought I would check how many word I have written since I started the blog last year and coincidently on the day I checked I had just passed the 200,000 word mark. I am a little bit taken aback by this. Apparently if you were to read every blog post that I have written it would, on average, take over 11 hours!
I am not going to lie, sometimes it is a real slog to find the motivation to sit down and write when I have a million other things that I should be doing. Why do I do it? Well, a lot of the time I do enjoy it but most of all I get very frustrated that there is almost no information available about Symbol outside of the Japanese community. We really do need to do more and if I can help a bit with this then I think that it is my duty to do so.
I would love to be writing for a larger audience too so please share and like Twitter posts, if you have a crypto related website then add a link to me to help in the search rankings. Most of all, if you have a story that you would like to share or an article to contribute then I would love to know about it!
Oh, and no I don’t think I will be writing the Symbol Blog book any time soon – but you never know, one day maybe 😂
Thanks
OK, thanks again for reading, hopefully it didn’t take 11 hours to get through today’s post! Also thanks to the new delegate that joined me this morning and to the person that sent a donation – I genuinely appreciate all of your support. It is great being part of a community and I am really looking forward to meeting some of you at SymbolCon next year! 😊

I’m a Symbol and NEM enthusiast and run this blog to try to grow awareness of the platform in the English-speaking world. If you have any Symbol news you would like me to report on or you have an article that you would like to publish then please let me know!
