04 Jan Symbol blockchain news update – 04/01/22

Happy new year everyone! Hope that you celebrated in style and have recovered from doing so! 😁 I learnt that I don’t deal well with hangovers anymore and will not be overdoing it again until I forget how much it hurts. It is my first day with my son back in nursery for a few weeks and I officially have the day off work although will be doing a little bit to ease myself back in. This means that I have some time to catch up on my neglected blog and write some more content. Going to start with an update but maybe I will have a go at writing another article later. Warning – I will have missed loads over the last few days so if you have something that you would like me to share then let me know!

Exchange listing

I have to admit I have never heard of BC Bitcoin but apparently, they have listed Symbol and that’s a good thing. It seems that their volume is not tracked by CoinMarketCap so I am assuming it is low volume, new or both. It says on their website that they are “the UK’s most trusted broker” so I guess that they are probably UK-centric meaning that I probably should know about them! Maybe I will give them a try on my next XYM purchase. Good to see another exchange listing though and I am sure that we will be seeing many more in 2022, hopefully, some of the big guys too.

Symbol documentation

I’ve already mentioned the (very cool looking) new Symbol documentation website but wanted to give you a reminder that @sigsegvx is still looking for community art for the main page. I think (apologies if I am wrong) that “vision”, “contribute” and “handbook” are still to be filled so if you have an artistic flair then show it off to the world and get involved!

WordPress x Symbol

This is something that I will be reading for sure! Looking at the intro with my trusty auto-translate it seems that imogai has made a WordPress plugin that allows article access to specific Symbol addresses. This would be the basis of a subscription-only blog service allowing subscribers to, for example, access premium content hosted on a blog. This is a very cool idea, not something that I am planning to implement but in the extremely unlikely event that the blog becomes huge in the future and I need to hire writers and quit my day job then it could be something to consider.

Good morning world!

We need to get more activity on Discord and Hatchet is encouraging you to get involved. A simple good morning will suffice if you don’t have anything else you want to share. I guess like writing, developing is a lonely pursuit so good to show some support and let the devs know you are there and that you are engaging with what is going on.

For those of us not on Twitter, it can be hard to see the strength of the community. This is why the “gm” trains were such a powerful show of coordination in 2021.

Things like this can make any newcomer to Symbol feel like they are not alone.

I am guilty of lurking in the background on Discord and also probably not keeping as up to date as I should be. I have been called out my Hatchet once already 😬 Sorry! I will try harder – life has been pretty frantic recently but I am getting myself back into Symbol-mode now.

And finally thank you to @bestgoldangel and @GeranKlim for growing the project in 🇷🇺, and for @blog_symbol and @UcchinCrypto and many others for the daily articles they write.
