09 Dec Symbol blockchain news update – 09/12/21
It’s Thursday already and I am back with a quick post whilst waiting for some stuff to run and putting off writing something far more boring and technical for work. I will try to cover as much as I can in a short space of time and apologise now for typos and missing stories!
Explorer updates
The Symbol explorer finally got an update! It looks way better than the previous version and has gone with a dark mode theme. There are new icons for the different transaction types and it looks super slick, it also seems to be running a lot faster than the previous explorer too which is what was needed. Note to the team – you need to update the favicon to the new Symbol logo (you may have noticed that I did that yesterday for Symbol Blog as this prompted me to.
You can download the explorer from GitHub if you fancy running your own copy for any reason.

The new documentation website is now live! I know from Discord that @sigsegvx has been working on this for a while and his hard work has paid off, it looks amazing! Go check it out and learn something new whilst you are at it! 😁
Also an important announcement. The main page still needs community art contributions for each of the images for the different sections. If you have some artistic talent then please contribute. You will have your work on display for everyone to see! 🙂
Fashion
I love this T-shirt design but it is a bit loud, to say the least. I exchanged a few tweets with Tresto about this and I don’t think that either of us would feel comfortable wearing it out in public 😁
However, Hatchet is no shrinking violet and apparently would wear it out on a date 😂 I wish I had this level of extraversion 😆 Maybe that’s my new years resolution, give less of a f**k about things.
NEM Advent Calendar
I have mentioned it before but I will mention it again. Go check out the NEM Advent Calendar and educate yourselves about Symbol and NEM. Yes, the majority of articles are in Japanese but they are easily translated, may not perfectly reflect the original text but they are certainly understandable in English. For those of you that are tech-minded this is a great place to get to grips with different transaction types and how to start coding with Symbol. There’s some really interesting stuff so don’t let the Japanese language put you off, in many cases if you can read code then you can read the article.

Symbol decentralised exchange
Don’t expect this to happen tomorrow (or maybe at all) but Hatchet is taking suggestions for features of a Symbol DEX, something that a few people on Discord and Twitter have been quite passionate about. If you have any ideas then this is the thread to propose them.
QUEST limit break
Spotted this post from Mikun earlier. Looks as if there will be some new QUEST features added soon. This one, I think might be to allow boosts limits to be increased past the default cap. It looks from the screenshot that maybe the default max boost level could be lowered but can be increased by 20-fold. I am guessing that there will be a charge each time the cap is raised? Not sure, watch this space and find out 😆
And as Mikun mentioned, the first thing that came to my mind was that it sounded like a special move too 😆
There will also be a Russian translation coming courtesy of @GeranKlim – good work Klim! 🙂

Good spot Tresto – I need to keep up to date with Discord but I literally get no free time at the moment, life is busy. Hopefully, things will calm down a little after Christmas and I will have a little bit more time to keep up to date.
Anyway, this shows a mockup of the creator dashboard. Apparently (if the automatic translation worked) there is a feature proposed that will allow NFT creators to airdrop NFTs with the touch of a button.
