Symbol tweet update

Symbol blockchain tweet update – 25/07/21

It’s Sunday already, hope that you have had a good weekend! I am a bit behind today so it’s a late Symbol Blog update from me – sorry!

KPop NFT

Here’s a tweet I spotted from @David_TH_Ham. I think I am in the wrong demographic to know much about KPop but this looks like some great news for Symbol at least! Apparently @officialse7en will be auctioning an NFT of a track called Mona Lisa tomorrow (July 26th) at 14:00 KST (05:00 UTC). The NFT will be on the Symbol blockchain and $XYM will be the currency of choice to bid with.

Apparently the Symbol market on NFTmania will be launched to coincide with the auction so this is great news. This means that you will be able to mint an NFT mosaic, list it on the site and get paid in XYM when it sells!

Unity Symbol API

Thanks @alediemmee for sending this one in! @toshiya_ma is working on a Symbol integration with Unity. At the moment the API is not public but it is working in his hands. There will be an article in Japanese explaining the method to others which will be coming in the future and hopefully we will be able to translate it for you. It seems that it allows you to register metadata in your Symbol account and then call this from Unity. This should allow simple integration of Symbol accounts in games development which would be really cool. We can’t wait to hear more about it!

XYM payment in Miyakojima

Thanks @FaizulReza1 for sending in this tweet from @AI27982784. It seems that Chipmunk’s hometown of Miyakojima is accepting payment for hiring go karts which allow you to get around the island. Chipmunk your town and island look amazing – you are super lucky to live in such a beautiful place! I may be at a conference in Japan in December (COVID permitting) and was thinking of flying to Okinawa afterwards with my family to to relax so I may look you up if I get there! 😊 you can read more about this here on the excellent nemedia. It is in Japanese but Google Translate or DeepL are your friends here.

Node satisfaction

This is an interesting tweet. Showing the results of @nembear‘s survey on node satisfaction. In the questionnaire nembear asked delegated harvesters a series of questions about the node that they delegate to and whether they were happy harvesting there. The results show that in general there is a high level of satisfaction of the delegators questioned. Most of the respondents said that they delegated to nodes that returned a percentage of the node fee back to delegates or used these funds to help projects that benefit Symbol. Just as a cheeky side note here to support Symbol Blog you can delegate to my node xymharvesting.net.

Whiskey galore!

We covered this the other day in our blog post but thanks @bestgoldangel for sending in this tweet!

NFT Drive discussion

We reported on this earlier in the month and told you that the NFT-Drive roundtable and Q&A was imminent. It seems now that it has happened! @NemtusOfficial are editing the video and it will be publicly available soon. We will keep you updated and try to get an English translation of the results.

Symbol Coins

Again, I posted about this in the past and even joked with @yutasoCrypto about completing his set with the gold edition Symbol coin. Looking at this tweet it seems that he has achieved the full house? I am not sure though as he says that the Pikachu coloured coin is super rare – is this the sold gold coin? Is there one missing to complete the set? I am not sure. It’s a pretty nice collection of Gameboy pokemon games too!

XYM vs XEM price

Here’s a @TrendStream tweet about the relative market price of XYM vs XEM. They have been battling it out since Symbol’s release and it’s been a bit of a wild ride!

@TrendStream (like me) believes that once XYM grows and the wider crypto community actually learns of its existence, XYM will overtake XEM. He is guessing at an 8:2 or 7:3 ratio in terms of value, personally I hope so 😊

School of NEM

Thanks @FaizulReza1 and @SchoolofNEM for this tweet. All of you that have followed NEM for a while will remember the Coincheck hack of 2018 where $500,000,000 worth of XEM was stolen due to poor security on the exchange. It seems that around 260,000 Coincheck users were affected by this huge theft. To their credit, all users were refunded in JPY at the rate of 88.549 Yen (around $0.80) per XEM they held.

There was a brief discussion by the community about a hard fork after the Coincheck hack in order to essentially reverse the theft but this was discounted pretty quickly. There was no fault in the technology, the blockchain was not hacked and it was a major error on the part of the exchange causing a lapse in security. I think that Coincheck have changed their practices and learnt from their mistakes now..

Thanks

Thanks as always for reading and supporting us and also to all of our regulars for sending in their tweet translations and news! We will be back again tomorrow (hopefully at an earlier time!) with your latest news update 😊
